FAQ
The questions that come up first, answered shortest.
The three answers people arrive for: this deployment runs on testnet, so the USDC is test money and only the competition prize is real; the counterparty is the Vault rather than another trader; and opening a position costs nothing, while holding it and closing it both do.
Is this real money?
Not on this deployment. It runs on Stellar testnet and the USDC comes from the Faucet. The competition prize is real.
Do I need a wallet extension?
No. Log on with an email or Google account and a Stellar account is created for you. See Log on and get funded.
Who is on the other side of my trade?
The Vault. There is no order book and nobody has to want your trade for it to happen.
Why can I not open the size I want?
The pool's headroom, or the market's cap for that side. The ticket says the largest size that side will take right now; see Opening and closing.
What does it cost to open?
Nothing. Holding costs borrow and funding, and closing costs a fee that is only taken out of profit. See Profit, loss and fees.
My stop did not fire, but the candle went through it.
Triggers read the mark price, and the candles come from an exchange feed. The wick was on the chart and not on the oracle.
Why did my position get liquidated on a flat day?
Borrow and funding accrue whether or not the price moves, and both come out of health. See Liquidation.
Can the app trade for me?
No. Every transaction is signed by your wallet, including the ones Copy Trading prepares for you.
I closed half my position and the liquidation price did not move.
Correct. A partial close frees collateral in proportion to size, so the ratio the liquidation price depends on is unchanged.
Why can I not withdraw my whole stake from the Vault?
Part of the pool is reserved against open positions, and withdrawals are only paid from the rest. It frees up as positions close. See Deposit and withdraw.
How much can I lose on one position?
All of the collateral behind it, and on a leveraged position that happens on a smaller move than people expect. See the risk disclosure.
Where did my window go?
The taskbar. Trade and Vault minimise when you close them. Any other closed window forgets where it sat and reopens at its default place.
