Positions
What a position is made of, and what each field in the row means.
A position is a side, a size, some collateral and an entry price, held against one market until you close it or it is closed for you. Each one is a separate object: opening a second on the same market gives you two entries and two liquidation prices, not one netted balance.
The fields
- Size
- The notional you are exposed to, in USDC:
collateral x leverage. - Collateral
- What is backing it. Borrow and funding are drawn against this while the position lives.
- Entry
- The mark price the position opened at. Profit and loss is measured from here.
- Mark
- The oracle price right now. See Oracle prices.
- Liq
- The mark price at which the position gets closed against you. It includes the fees accrued so far, so it drifts.
- PnL
- What you would realise by closing at the current mark, before the closing fee.
One market, more than one position
Positions are separate objects rather than one netted balance per market. The ticket always opens a new one, so you can hold two on the same symbol with different entries and different liquidation prices, and closing one leaves the other exactly as it was. To add to an existing position, open it and use its Increase tab. The chart annotates the first position on the market it is showing.
Where to find them
- In the terminal, under the chart, for the market you are looking at. Click a row to open it: Details, Increase and Close are its three tabs.
- Portfolio, for all of them at once, with closed history beside them.
- On a phone, the positions panel is the dock under the chart. Drag its grip to give it as much of the screen as you want.
